JULY 29th, 2018 - Tillson Lake in Minnewaska State Park is in danger of being lost FOREVER! For Almost 100 years Tillson Lake has been a refuge for wildlife and a magical treasure for Ulster County and beyond. The PIPC and NY State Parks Commission are trying to drain Tillson Lake! After committing in their master plan to do all they could to save it, they have made a recent decision to abandon their commitment.

As Tillson Lake is a staple in our community and a precious part of our landscape, we are committed to doing all we can to save it from being drained (and erased forever)!

On July 29th, 2018 conceptual artist, Keith Buesing organized - together with local activists and concerned residents - a community 'float in' in which over 100 participants brought boats to Tillson Lake to spell out SOS "Save Our Sanctuary."  The hope is that the State will recognize the importance of this lake - it's relevance to so many in our community - and make efforts to repair the dam.
